Squad play is more than grouping up
The current squad brief ties class slots and equipment to the type of squad you join. A squad is therefore a small tactical plan: it points players toward a job, gives the Officer a style of off-map support, and makes some roles more valuable than others in the same moment.
The roles players should understand first
The published examples include the Officer, Heavy Machine Gunner, Sniper and Stretcher Bearer. The Officer steers the group, heavy weapons create pressure, the Sniper controls sightlines, and the Stretcher Bearer helps keep the squad active after a down. The exact full roster should be treated as a living reference until the game is live.
Ping, call-ins and movement
Pinging gives a squad a shared language without requiring voice chat. Use it to mark the next route, a dangerous angle, a defender position or a fallback. Call-ins are most useful when they support an objective decision rather than being dropped simply because they are available.
- Ping before you move so the squad can read your intention.
- Choose a role that the squad type can use well.
- Keep the Officer’s support aligned with the next objective.
A simple squad habit
At the start of a push, name the direction. During the crossing, identify the threat. After the capture, decide whether to secure, rotate or hold. That three-step rhythm is more valuable than everyone choosing the same high-damage class.
